A Turkish Airlines flight en route to Sao Paulo has declared an emergency following a bomb threat and landed at Casablanca airport, a spokeswoman for the airline said.
The flight, TK15, had departed from Istanbul on Monday and landed in the Moroccan city after a note was found warning there was a “bomb” in one of the aircraft toilets.
The communications office at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca confirmed that the flight had landed there.
The AFP news agency said the Boeing 777, carrying 256 people, was evacuating passengers and a search was underway to find any explosives.
Turkish Airlines said it was standard procedure to make an emergency landing under such circumstances. Al Jazeera
