Unidentified gunmen have killed three Turkish soldiers on the Syria-Turkey border in Sanliurfa province, Turkish media said.
The governor of Sanliurfa told the semi-official Anatolia news agency that the soldiers on guard duty on the border in Ceylanpinar district were shot dead early on Tuesday.
Izzettin Kucuk said it was unclear where the fire came from and that authorities were investigating the incident.
“Whether the fire came from the Syrian side is one of the issues we are looking into,” he said.
Dogan news agency, another Turkish news agency, reported that the fire came from a village on the Syrian side.
Following the attack, Turkish special army forces have been deployed to the border and security measures have been increased in the area. Al Jazeera
