Months of preparation are about to culminate into the moment of greatness that is the Two Oceans Marathon. This year the theme of the marathon is ‘Run as One’ and some 27 000 runners will be taking part in what is described as the world’s most scenic race. Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille has issued a special message wishing all participants well saying, “To the many runners who will debut this wonderful event and to the thousands who take part each year, I send my best wishes to you all. We often see how sporting activities are a great unifier, bringing people from all walks of life and all corners of the world together. This event is one which truly demonstrates how we are all building an inclusive city.” If you too will be cheering on that dedicated runner in your life – here are the spots to check out as well as the detours to use for those not wanting to get caught up in the road closures.
The Two Oceans Marathon Spectators are asked to please obey all officials and marshals and be aware of traffic when supporting the runners. You should also not stand in roadways where vehicles are travelling.
