Two senior members of the University of Cape Town Student Representative Council have been removed from their position, following serious rape allegations. The allegations surfaced on social media yesterday. The SRC says it is disgusted by these allegations and remains committed to uprooting and repelling such actions from the student environment. The student council says in the interim it has resolved to open a case with the student governance court against the two members. One of the people being accused has denied the allegations saying he was not in Cape Town on the day the alleged rape happened.
