Expelled Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi will on Thursday lay a criminal charge against the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans leader who threated him, he said.

“I will lay a charge against [Lulamile Jack] who has put himself up for some criminal case,” he told delegates at a National Union of Metalworkers of SA Conference for Socialism in Johannesburg.

Vavi said he would lay the charge at a police station near his home on Thursday afternoon.

MKMVA Limpopo deputy chairperson Lulamile Jack threatened to kill Vavi.

Speaking at a Cosatu’s shop stewards council on Tuesday he said: “You must go and tell him that comrade Lulamile Jack, the former body guard of Chris Hani, he will kill him for betraying Cosatu.”

In a response to the threats on Wednesday, Vavi said he was not shocked.

Vavi has received death threats before, as far back as 2010.

However, he says to this day nothing has been done and he did not expect anything to be done now as well.

“I have no hope anything will even happen now,” he said. News24
