As part of its celebrations to mark the 20th year of broadcasting, VOC will host a lavish fundraising banquet on 1st November. The event will take place at the Old Mutual Campus Court Yard on the 1st November 2014. Twenty years is a milestone for the community radio station that has hosted annual events to builder closer ties with listeners and understand the audience who has been tuned in since the early days in 1995.

“We are going to celebrating the big event in style. We [VOC staff] simply love interacting with the community as we do annually, this time, the interaction will be on a more personal level,” says VOC marketing manager, Sukayna Johaardien.

“It will be an event will be filled with glitz and glamour.”

Usually, the radio station has opted for a more informal and relaxed celebration, however, now listeners will be afforded an opportunity to enjoy a much more refined evening that still offers the same VOC hospitality, entertainment and fun that they have come to love.

Ticket purchasing is already open to the community and entry is R200 per ticket. All proceeds will go towards operations at VOC and ensuring that it remains on-air.

“We want to offer our listeners so much but with this event, we can only accommodate 600 people. So we urge those who are interested to purchase their tickets as soon as possible to not only support their radio station but to also be celebrated as the family we love to serve on a daily basis,” Johaardien further explained.

Marketing administrator, Fadia Abrahams further encouraged listeners interested in sharing the evening to put on their Sunday best and show off their unique style.

“Our listeners love to dress up. We want them to come together, meet all the listeners who have been with us for 20 years. When it comes to celebration…that is what we can do best. We are really looking forward to coming together and reminiscing the years gone by,” Abrahams explained.

“We want the community to meet those behind the scenes, who make the broadcasts possible for VOC. On the evening of the event, we will go back through time to look at the growth of VOC as well. Entertainers that were with us 20 years ago will also be there along with new ones to help us through the timeline of VOC’s years. Good food, good company and good entertainment is what we want our guests to experience at the event, amongst others,” Johaardien added.
