Due to bad weather conditions forecasted for this Sunday, VOC has postponed its Muharram Family Picnic to Sunday 30th October. Organisers said it was a difficult decision to make, and with Cape Town’s unpredictable weather, they did not want to risk the chance of rain on Sunday. The events team said it was disappointed that it had to postpone the event, but confident that more people would be able to support given the extended time for ticket sales. The event will take place at the Mini-town Family Play Park in Duynefontein in Melkbos at 9am.

The Muharram Family Day caters for people of all ages, and is a way for families to reconnect and create memorable moments. The Muharram 1438 Picnic is a fundraising event to generate funds for VOC. The station hopes it will also enhance the VOC brand, grow the VOC existing listenership, especially amongst the younger generation.

The event will be filled with loads of fun activities, from live nasheed, family sports, games, jumping castles, petting zoos, to a variety of mouth-watering foods and refreshing beverages. There are also swimming pools with life guards available to ensure the safety of children.

There are only a limited amount of tickets and space available. Tickets are available at the Voice of the Cape studios in Salt River as well as at Tazz boutique in Gatesville.

Entry prices range from R40-R60 and transport prices range from R60-R80. Food and beverages will also be sold. Families are encouraged to pack their blankets, chairs, umbrellas and picnic baskets.
