Wait for February for Nkandla answers: Minister

Justice Minister Michael Masutha refused to entertain questions on the Nkandla upgrades on Wednesday.

The minister was asked in Parliament by DA MP Glynnis Breytenbach whether he would advise President Jacob Zuma to pay back some of the money used for upgrades at his homestead.

She was asking in light of the recent Supreme Court of Appeal judgment regarding remedial action recommended by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.

The court earlier this month ruled that Madonsela’s findings could not be ignored.

But Masutha refused to be drawn on the matter, saying it was still the subject of a Constitutional Court challenge and was, therefore, sub judice.

But opposition party MPs were not convinced and attempted to pin him down by asking the same question in three different ways.

Masutha declined to take the bait, advising his interrogators to either join the Constitutional Court case being brought by the EFF and public protector in February or wait until it was over to get their answers.

“Be patient. February is around the corner. Go have a nice Christmas and we will see this in the new year,” he told MPs. News24
