Two men have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a woman outside a nightclub in Claremont, Cape Town, and raping her, Western Cape police said on Monday. They were caught in the early hours of Saturday morning after a taxi driver who saw it happen contacted police, Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said.
Traffic officers and police found the men’s silver VW Polo Vivo in Crawford and rescued the 20-year-old woman. City of Cape Town mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith said the woman was found in the back of the car.
“The young woman appeared heavily drugged and was taken to Victoria Hospital where a rape kit was done,” Smith said.
The men would appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of kidnapping and rape. VOC
