A foreign national has been nabbed in Ottery with a stash of drugs estimated to have a street value of R4m.
Western Cape police said the discovery and his arrest on Wednesday morning was a “significant blow” to the province’s illegal drug trade.
The 32-year-old raised the suspicions of officers while driving around in a silver Hyundai in the early hours of the morning.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel André Traut said the man sped off when he saw the police vehicle approaching.
He was apprehended shortly afterwards.
In the Delft resident’s car they found 2kg of crystal meth, dagga and large amounts of Mandrax and cocaine.
Officials also seized a substantial amount of cash.
He would appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once charged. News24
