COMMUNITY NOTICE

MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL 2016 ELECTIONS

All praise is due to Allah, our sustainer, protector and lord of all creation.

Salutations upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alihi wa salaam and his noble family.

As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu

Following the conclusion of Muslim Judicial Council (SA)’s 2016 Annual General Meeting which took place the 23 April 2016, the council entered into the 2016 electoral process for the positions of the Presidency, Secretary General, Treasurer and Executive Council members.

The electoral process was conducted by the Electoral Commission represented by Maulana Taha Karaan, Maulana Ihsaan Hendricks, Shaykh Shaheed Esau, Dr Yusry Toefy and Shaykh Fadil Abdul latief.

The two candidates standing for president was Shaykh Riad Fataar and Shaykh Irfaan Abrahams. Both candidates was requested to provide the majlis with a 5 minute presentation on their vision for the MJC.

The voting process concluded with Shaykh Irfaan Abrahams being elected president of the MJC (SA).

The position of 1st, 2nd Deputy President, Secretary General, Treasurer and 5 Executive Committee members are as follows:

Ml. Abdul Khaliq Allie – 1st Deputy President
Sh. Riad Fataar – 2nd Deputy President
Sh. Isgak Taliep – Secretary General
Sh. Fadiel Emandien – Treasurer

Ml Yusuf Arieff
Sh Dawood Terblanche
Mlna Abdul Fataah Carr

We convey our best wishes and dua to the newly elected president and his team. We believe that the leadership of the Muslim community of South Africa has been placed in good hands.

May Allah subhanahu ta ala bless us and may each member of our community continue serving humanity, upholding the banner of Islam, maintaining good relations, while seeking the blessings and satisfaction of Allah. Ameen.
