The Department of Health Gazetted proposed regulations on the handling of Covid-19 and other medical conditions that fall outside the National State of Disaster yesterday.

This will allow the public to have meaningful input into the decision-making process and includes other notifiable medical conditions.

Department spokesperson, Foster Mohale, said this forms part of the government’s plan to end the National State of Disaster that has been implemented since March 2020.

Mohale says the proposed regulations seek to introduce a number of control measures and will also help with the successful management of future pandemics. It includes the surveillance and control of notifiable medical conditions, public health measures at points of entry, the management of human remains, and regulations relating to environmental health.
