About 20 people were injured when a number of grandstands collapsed at the Esselen Park Stadium in Worcester, Western Cape, during a sporting event on Saturday evening.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said its team of paramedics, as well as other emergency services, responded to the scene where they found the people lying near the collapsed grandstands.
“Twenty people had sustained minor to moderate injuries when the stands collapsed. Fortunately no-one had sustained any serious or fatal injuries,” he said.
“Patients were transported to various hospitals for urgent medical care.”
The cause of the collapse is being investigated. News24
