As Ramadan enters its third phase, Cape Town residents will be graced with the melodious recitation of two Egyptian state qurraa, Hajjaaj Ramadaan Al-Hindawi and Khalid Rabee’I Ahmad Yusuf.
Qaari Hindawi, the senior state qaari who recites at all presidential events, has long been hailed as one of the best reciters of Qur’aan and has graced audiences around the world with some of the most breath-taking renditions of Qur’aan tilaawaat.
Accompanying Qaari Hindawi, Qaari Yusuf has been making a name for himself as he begins a very fruitful journey as a talented reciter of the Qur’aan.
Speaking to VOC, Shaykh Muhammad Philander explained that the time of the programme, which is hosted by Shukrul Mubeen Masjid in association with the Sheikh Yusuf Centre, was selected as it will grant individuals an opportunity to continue to be spiritually uplifted after they have completed their taraweeh prayers.
“This is a rare opportunity. What are the chances that we in Cape Town in the month of Ramadan could have an opportunity to be graced by a qaari of his calibre?” he continued.
As the event is expected to be well attended, Shaykh Philander said that the organizers have made ample provision for both males and females.
“We ask that everyone comes early and since there is no salah after taraweeh we request that everyone sits closely behind each other.”
In addition to enjoying the beautiful recitation, Philander explained that food will be on sale following taraweeh prayers.
The event takes place at 9.30pm on Saturday, 25 June at Shukrul Mubeen Masjid, York Road, Lansdowne.
