Only one of the three suspects accused of the kidnapping and murder of a Strandfontein man is continuing his application to be released on bail.

Romano Jenniker and Warren Challen, two of the three men arrested for the brutal murder of 26-year-old Chad Baron, appeared before Magistrate Walter Golding in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Challen, however, told the court he would be abandoning his application.

Jenniker’s application was postponed to September 29 after his legal representation withdrew for financial reasons. He will now be represented by a legal aid lawyer.

The duo, along with a third accused Ricardo Jackson, face charges of murder, kidnapping and car theft.

Jackson did not apply for bail.

Baron was hijacked on his way home from a party in Cape Town on June 8.

He was dumped near an abandoned building in Camp Road and was found by a boy who was walking past. He had multiple stab wounds and had been beaten with a brick.

Baron remained in a coma at Groote Schuur Hospital until his death on July 11, two weeks after he was supposed to have left to teach English in Vietnam. News24
