With high levels of hunger as a result of the Israeli blockade, the Al Imdaad Foundation has managed to distribute over 22 000 food parcels and iftar packs to Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip over the weekend.  Following last year’s brutal Israeli military onslaught, the global humanitarian NGO has been provided continuous aid as part of its ongoing ‘Rebuild Gaza’ Project. The foundation hopes to assist Gazans with restoring life to what it had been before the Israeli attacks a year ago through rebuilding their homes, hospitals, schools and Masajid.

The foundation’s Qari Ziyaad Patel says the food distributions does not only come during this month of Ramadan but it is a continued effort throughout the year to ensure that Gazans do not have to suffer any longer under the dire situations as a result of the Israeli blockade.

“We have numerous efforts on going in the Gaza Strip. We now have the added extra iftar campaign along with the new power generating project to provide electricity,” Patel explained.

However, while Ramadan is the month of the Quran, Patel says a special focus promoting the Quran and encourage young Gazans to take part in the memorisation of the Quran.

“The Al Imdaad Foundation is heading eight madaaris in the area focused on assisting children with the memorisation of the Quran but also to teach the science of recitation,” Patel.

Meanwhile, the foundation has placed special effort to sustain and maintain existing projects such as the water project for water purification. This project provides clean water where water had not been accessible to Gazans for months.

“It is very important for us to help people rebuild their homes. So this is a priority for us during the month of Ramadaan,” Patel continued.

The Foundation has launched its e-magazine, offering the public an opportunity to find out what the foundation achieved over the last six months. The e-magazine will provide up to date reports on developments on projects and campaigns and allow for viewers to find out more on how they can assist the foundation.

Patel made a special appeal to VOC listeners for their duas, especially during this holy month of Ramadan.

“If you cannot assist financially, at least we should assist them through dua, Insha-Allah.”
