Western Cape police are investigating yet another gang-related murder in Mitchells Plain. Last month, residents urged authorities to tackle the ongoing gun violence in the area, where more than 15 people were injured and eight killed over a single weekend, including two teenagers.
In the latest incident on Friday night, a 36-year-old man was chased down and shot in Eastridge. According to reports, one of five suspects in a black VW Golf jumped out of the car and pursued the deceased, firing multiple shots. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
“The victim tried to run away but the suspect followed him and continued to shoot at him multiple times. The victim, aged 36, was transported to a medical facility where he died due to his injuries. Police are investigating the shooting,” said police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana.
Calls for authorities to find sustainable solutions have once again risen, amid gang violence in several areas on the Cape flats.
