A gang of armed robbers hit a jewellery store in a Cape Town mall on Tuesday morning, said Western Cape police.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel André Traut said three robbers entered the store around 09:30.

It is understood that the store was Sterns in Vangate Mall, Athlone.

They fled with jewellery and had yet to be arrested.

Police were investigating a business robbery. News24
