A gang held up staff at the Castle Hotel in central Cape Town on Monday morning.
The four robbers entered the hotel on Canterbury Street around 06:15, said Western Cape police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.
They held up the manager and employees at gunpoint, taking an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone.
They then fled on foot.
Rwexana said no one was wounded and arrests had yet to be made.
An employee confirmed the robbery to News24 earlier but would not elaborate.
Eyewitness News reported that police and ADT security vehicles were seen parked outside the hotel early on Monday morning. News24
