Motorists will have to fork out more for fuel next month. The Automobile Association (AA) says it expects the price of petrol to jump by 51 cents a litre.
It says the weak rand is the major culprit.
The AA says it expects diesel and paraffin prices to jump by over 20 cents a litre.
The rand has taken a knock since the Hawks announced another probe into Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, who is widely credited with averting a credit ratings downgrade earlier this year.
Meanwhile, a number of academics and civil society leaders say the Hawks probe into Gordhan is politically-motivated as the Finance Minister seeks to crack down on maladministration and corruption in government.
