Gouwa Solomon is the host of Early Childhood Development and Mechanic on Air Saturdays from 5 – 7pm.

How would you describe up your shows? 
Child care and Development is a family show, educating and informing all types of family units. Its mostly targeted to families with young children starting from the day the fetus is formed till they go to school.

What inspires you to stay on radio? 
People, they inspire me and of course my religion. People and our community in general are so fascinating and inspirational they make you want to do and know more. As being part of a growing family my children are also a big inspiration to make me always want to give more spiritually, emotionally and physically where I can.

What does the VOC mean to you?
VOC has allowed me to personally grow positively and showered me with infinite blessings. So Shukran Katheer to all

What makes you laugh?
My children and some really funny people, although my husband humor was part of my attraction to him, so let’s just say now I laugh at him. But still adore him 🙂

Any memorable interviews or features you have done?
Outside broadcasts are always memorable to me because we get to meet our listeners and clients. But 1 that stands out is an interview with Charmaine and her son from 7de laan when they came in studio to promote a play. These celebs were so down to earth with immense talents and from our community. But more importantly they are people that appreciate our language, culture and religion.

Which direction would you like the show to take in the future?  
I would like to see it become a show that our listeners look forward to every week; so much so that they dictate what topics are important to them…whether it’s suggestions from the guardians, parents, caregivers, nannies and children themselves. I absolutely appreciate when listeners calls, sms and communicate to give their feedback, questions and responses. After all the show is for them and helping them along to become the best parent or caregiver with a little help from our panel of guests, even when it’s a 5year old.
