OPINION by Ibrahim Vawda – The Media Review Network (MRN) finds that the support given to Al Sisi by Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority (PA) is deeply concerning, irregular and condemnable. His open allegiance to Al Sisi and by extension to Israel is a vindication of the viewpoint that the PA can never be trusted. He has failed to impress upon the international community that the 10 year long siege of the Gaza should be lifted so that the people of Gaza can begin to re-establish a normal lifestyle that all in the free world enjoy. Yet he is prepared to further tighten Israel’s grip on the besieged Gazan people. This is tantamount to genocide.

The MRN condemns without reservation the illicit, immoral and unlawful act perpetrated by the lawless Al Sisi regime to flood the tunnels used by Gazans to sustain their livelihoods. This is done under the guise of state security.

Israel’s occupation of Palestine is the longest running military occupation in modern history. Israel uses the combination of settler-colonial and segregation tactics ala South Africa pre-1994. Palestinians still constitute the largest refugee population in the world, according to United Nations (UN) statistics. Doctors without Borders have revealed that doctor’s waiting rooms are full of patients suffering from injuries sustained during the 2014 military campaign on Gaza.

The MRN calls on the international community to firstly condemn the illegal regime in Cairo and its illegitimate activities at the Rafah border. We also call upon the African Union (AU) to censure a fellow member for its acts of criminality in the Gaza. Secondly, Israel must lift the siege on the Gaza so that it will not be necessary for the Gazan people to resort to tunnels to sustain their livelihood. Lastly, the PA should not be recognised as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people for obvious reasons. Media Review Network
