Mostafa Atef, one of the brightest young stars in the nasheed world will be heading for South Africa soon.  Better known as ‘Mr Qamarun’, Atef will be captivating audiences around the country in a one-night only performance, presented by Anonymous Branding.  The Mostafa Atef South African Tour 2016 kicks off in Cape Town on the 10th December at the Cape Town International Convention Centre at 6.30pm.

Atef, 26 years of age, is originally from Egypt and has been in the Al Azhar education system since the tender age of 4 years old. He is a qari of note and one of the best International Nasheed vocalists at the moment.

The art of Nasheed and Qasaa’id is a form of poetry with complete devotion to Allah and love of His Messenger, the Nabi Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be Upon him). Poets extend from various countries around the world but works are mostly written in Arabic.

The Cape Town community whilst primarily lovers of traditional nasheed and qasaa’id, have seen a keen interest in the international style of nasheed with youth forming nasheed groups and madari’s including it’s study as part of its curriculum. Local Islamic broadcasters with nasheed on their playlists have increased the popularity of the genre.

Mostafa Atef is set to on the night extend a program of both old and new content but the highlight of the event will definitely be the Cape Town Favourite ‘Qamarun’, an Egyptian nasheed that speaks of the beauty of the Nabi Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him).

Having recently launched a CD, Atef promises to treat the audience to a decadent bouquet of old and new nasheed. His current CD is a selection of more modern nasheed such as Darwish, Aasef and Muslim and is now available at selected stores.

Anonymous branding has over the weeks run a #Qamarun campaign with Nasheed groups to submit 30 second clips of them showcasing their version of the nasheed from which one person or group will be selected to perform track at on stage with the nasheed star.

Anonymous Branding has lead a roadshow with Cape Towns talented nasheed group Khuddamul-Islam and VOC presenter Tasleema Allie at various venues around the Cape from the balcony of Global Islamic Books in the heart of Gatesville Centre, to the schools of Islamia, The Leadership College (TLC), among others.

The concert is sponsored by Al Jeem, MK Travel Agency, Fibre World and Timbuktu Coffee Shop. VOC, Muslim Views and ITV DSTV Channel 347 are the official media partners.
